Don’t Let Humanity Drown:

Statement Demands Change of European Migration Policy

READ THE FULL STATEMENT

Together with 38 other organizations from different European countries, Mobile Info Team released in February 2019 a statement titled "Don't Let Humanity Drown". The text calls for a change of the European migration policies in a way which will respect fundamental European values, like human dignity, equality, democracy and respect for human rights. It is addressed to Members of European Parliament and expresses grave worries about how European leaders have tried to keep migrants away at all costs and how human rights have been increasingly marginalized in the recent past. The signatories of the statement highlight several issues which need to be urgently addressed by European member states and European decision makers, such as ongoing deaths in the Mediterranean Sea, violence and illegal pushbacks at the European borders and the terrible living conditions for asylum seekers in hotspots and reception centres. The statement has been forwarded to Members of European Parliament, to media and to other NGOs or International Organizations.
